The Brexit Concert

Unity Financial Partners, in conjunction with the British Chamber of Commerce Italy (BCCI), is organising a unique event dedicated to the outlook for your financial investments post Brexit against a background of classical music played on antique musical instruments.

The event will be held in the beautiful Villa Medici Giulini at Briosco between Monza and Lake Como on 11 October.
The Brexit Concert

Brexit: pipedream or opportunity?

A British team of experts from Rathbones International will be attending the event, including an asset manager from their London headquarters, speaking about the financial market implications and opportunities in a post Brexit world for international expatriates while we count down to 31 October.

The villa houses one of the greatest collections of historical stringed and keyboard instruments in the world still in private hands, some of which were used to play the first operas of Giuseppe Verdi.

As well as the financial outlook presentation from Rathbones, guests will listen to short recitals of Mozart, Beethoven, Ponchielli, Verdi, Britten and Elgar, played by two expert pianists in the fresco painted music rooms and dedicated theatre auditorium of the villa.

Your attendance will have a positive impact

A part of the ticket proceeds from the event will be donated to Link Community Development, an Edinburgh based charity that envisages a world where every child in sub-Saharan Africa has access to a quality basic education.

In the past 3 years alone, Link has trained almost 10,000 teachers and has reached 600,000 children in Africa including 4 commonwealth countries. Link’s model is proven to transform the futures of children living in some of the most deprived areas of the world. www.lcdinternational.org

Places are limited and demand is expected to be high.

The ticket price of €80 includes two short classical music concerts, seated buffet dinner and drinks in the villa as well as a financial investment presentation by Rathbones International.

A part of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Link Community Development, an Edinburgh based charity that envisages a world where every child in Sub-Saharan Africa has access to a quality based education.

In the meantime, are you prepared for Brexit?

The increased likelihood of a No Deal Brexit on 31 October has important implications for British citizens residing in Italy.

In order to protect your citizens’ rights (right to stay, access to healthcare etc) it has become much more important to be correctly registered as a resident in Italy, as frequently reiterated by the British Embassy here in Rome (see also our article on regularising residency of 11 December 2017 on BritishinItaly.com)

Italian residency has significant implications for British people holding financial and/or real estate assets in Italy, in the UK and elsewhere.

If you have a UK pension plan you should check how withdrawals will be treated in Italy for tax purposes and whether your provider is capable of paying you in Euro to a non UK account. If you hold UK based direct investment funds and Individual Share Accounts (ISAs) these are unlikely to be the most tax efficient way to manage your savings as an Italian resident. Where, how and in what currency you hold your financial assets are also never simple choices.

Many British citizens residing in Italy understandably rely on their “tried and trusted” financial advisor based in the UK to provide advice on how best to manage their pensions and investment plans when living abroad.

For many years, Unity Financial Partners, regulated both in Italy and the UK, has been helping its British clients resident in Italy to structure and manage their pensions and savings so as to be compliant and tax efficient for local residency as well as portable should their circumstances change.

We strongly recommend checking with us that your pensions and investments are indeed suitable and efficient for you as an Italian resident.

Unity is able to offer internationally secure and tax efficient solutions in a range of international currencies including Sterling, Euros, Dollars and Swiss Francs, managed by a selection of British asset managers, held in either the UK or in an EU or EEA country outside of Italy.
